A Little Gossip at Lunch
So today I went out for lunch and got the scoop on my family. Seems like people are keeping secrets that are being exposed. I also found out that people are not getting along like they usually do; almost to the point that Christmas is in questioned. No one whats to say anything that would cause drama, but I know that it is only a matter of time before fighting and gossip gets to them. It is strange; I never would have thought that my family could become this interesting.

Fall TV Season 2010 (Returning Shows)
Next week begins the Fall TV lineup. I'm a big television watcher, so I thought I would make a returning Shows-to-Watch list for the 2010-2011 season.
Sunday
I would recommend starting the week off with Desperate Housewives. The show has had some truly bad storylines, but it also has had some great seasons and characters. Best part is Vanessa Williams is joining the cast this year since Ugly Betty was canceled. She is reason enough to watch DH.
Monday
90210 is supposed to get really good this year. It left off with a student about to be assaulted by the teacher who she had falsely claimed had sexually harassed her. Another girl admitted to her parents that she killed a man with her car and fled last year. A new storyline is also supposed to center around a current male character discovering that he is gay. Sounds interesting to me!
Tuesday
I am really excited to see Glee return. But I would push Life Unexpected before Glee. This little jem on the CW is about a teenage girl who is re-adopted by her birth parents. The story is good and the acting isn't bad either (for the CW). Sometimes it is heavy handed, but I really like the relationship between her and her parents.
Wednesday
Modern Family. Best comedy on TV in my opinion. The show focuses on an father and his two grown-up children and their families. It is witty and features some of the funniest modern stories. This is a show that I actually laugh out loud when I'm watching. Their isn't a character that I don't like on this show.
Thursday
I would recommend Fringe on Fox as the best show of the night. It is a science fiction show about a FBI agent who works with a crazy scientist and his son. The highlights of this show is Astrid Farnsworth, whom I love on this show. She is the Libby of this show (for Lost watchers); meaning we only get pieces of her story and still don't know everything about her. Also keep an eye out for the bald-Observer who is hidden in every episode.
Friday
The final season of Smallville begins this year. I would highly recommend if for fans of Green Arrow and other DC characters. I could really care less about Clark and his story, possibly until this season. He will finally wears the cape and fly by the end of the season, hopefully. And we are supposed to get an explanation about his friend Chloe, who isn't in the Superman comics; but has still been in the show since season 1 of this 10 season show.

The Friend Test
I remember way back in high school when I would make a new friend. We would have a really good conversation and I could tell that it would be fun to hang out again. This would go on for a few weeks and then I would test them. It would be me walking down the hall and I would say "hi" to them. If he or she said "hi" back, we were friends. If the friend said nothing or acted as though I didn't exist, then I knew that I didn't want to continue talking with them. It is the idea of being too embarrassed to talk with me in a public setting.
This has apparently been passed to the real world. I was friends with a girl at work who I had a lot in common. We both watched and read the same things. She was funny and she got my sarcastic humor. So when she moved departments, I said goodbye and hoped to see her around. Well, after she left, she began to ignore me. Not just that, but she would only talk to anyone in my department if she was alone. I wanted to have nothing of this and I pretty much gave up talking to her.
I didn't give any thought about her until today. I was on Facebook and checking up on my friends; looking to see if I could comment on their crazy weekend. That is when I realized that I was no longer Facebook friends with the girl previously mentioned. I was so sad and upset about it; and I don't know why! I knew we weren't real friends outside of work, but I didn't expect her to unfriend me. Why did I expect anything different from her? I guess because she seemed better than that.
What I'm taking away from this? I am going to make a real effort to try and keep in touch with my current friends. I don't want to be the guy who drops friends because I change departments or don't see them as much as I like. I'm making an effort to sit by different people at lunch every day. I say hello people as much as possible and try and take a real interest when people talk to me. Thanks girl-who-switched-departments.
